Sheet Molding Press
We offer quality Sheet Molding Press for meeting the process application demands of footwear industry. These press are precision designed for molding Hawaii/Eva rubber sheets and are also incorporated with auto bumping programmers, auto cycle control, auto opening and manual operations. It also comes with an option of thermic fluid or electric, steam heated platen support.
Standard – ASTM D 4703 Procedure C
- Automotive Industry:Production of lightweight parts, body panels, bumpers, deck lids, and structural components.
- Electrical/Electronics:Manufacture of insulators, switch gears, electric meter boxes, and consumer durable housings.
- Construction & Infrastructure:Fabrication of façade panels, sanitary ware (tubs, sinks), and large containers.
- Aerospace:High-strength, corrosion-resistant components and interior panels.
- Footwear:Production of EVA or Hawaii rubber sheets using specialized compression.
Common Applications:
Sample Preparation: Producing rubber and plastic sheets for tensile, impact, and tensile testing (e.g., ASTM D3182).
Material Science R&D: Compounding, testing new polymer formulations, and curing rubber or composite composites.
Prototyping: Small-batch production of rubber seals, O-rings, rubber bushes, and automotive parts.
Lamination: Bonding layers of materials under heat and pressure.
Education: Used in university laboratories for teaching polymer science and processing techniques.
Common Configurations:
Desktop/Tabletop Press: Smaller units suitable for limited lab spaces.
Floor Standing Press: Larger, higher-capacity machines, such as those found on Hexa Plast.
Vacuum Press: Specifically for materials requiring zero air entrapment.
- Precision and Control:Feature precise PID temperature control (often up to 300°C or higher) with exceptional uniformity (±0.5°C) across platens.
- Construction:Typically a robust 4-column design with chrome-plated, ground steel platens to ensure parallel pressing.
- Operating System:Often include touchscreens (HMI) with PLC control for automating up to 40+ customized molding cycles, including multi-stage degassing.
- Heating/Cooling:Supported by electric cartridge heaters for heating and water-cooling channels for rapid curing.
- Safety Features:Equipped with safety gates, interlocked doors, emergency stops, and often designed to fit inside fume hoods for toxic material testing.
- Capacity:R&D models generally range from 10 to 150+ tons, allowing for scaling up from prototyping to pilot production.
- High-Precision Hydraulic System: Utilizes single-acting rams and proportional valves to ensure high-speed, repeatable cycles.
- Heated Platens: Available with electric heating, steam, or thermal fluid to maintain precise temperatures (e.g.,
- ) for curing.
- Parallel Accuracy: Guided moving platens ensure precise alignment and uniform pressure distribution for high-quality, complex parts.
- High Tonnage Capacity: Ranging from 50 to 2,000+ tons to meet various structural requirements.
- Automated Operation: Features such as Auto-Bumping programs, automatic cycling, and rapid opening/closing enhance productivity.
- Advanced Safety Features: Includes safety interlocks and monitoring systems for operator protection.
